Dr Sebastian Thomas will travel to Suva, Fiji to present at the first high-level knowledge and exchange platform towards a blue economy in the Pacific Islands.
The event, hosted by the Pacific Islands Development Forum, runs over two days on 23rd-24th August.
'Blue economy' refers to economic value gathered from the marine and coastal systems. Sebastian is particularly interested in blue carbon - the carbon dioxide stored in marine and coastal ecosystems.
Dr Thomas will present a short talk about financing the blue economy, and is on a panel discussion regarding the potential of blue carbon for the Pacific region to pursue sustainable development.
