Upcoming Opportunities

Would you like to get involved with our research team? Here are a few potential research projects we would like to pursue. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Turning local waste into sustainable superfood

Life Cykel enables Australians to grow their own oyster mushrooms with simplicity and from used coffee grounds. Gourmet mushrooms are natures waste cleanser and Life Cykel know that there's room for a larger health and environmental impact. Life Cykel is seeking motivated students to work with us in conducting trials for different local waste growing substrates on growth rates and testing the health benefits of the mushrooms. Nutrient and pesticide analysis of mushrooms are few of many angles we can analyse. This project has scope for long term studies and significant implications for local food production and waste management.

Growing mushrooms from biodegradable materials

Life Cykel enables Australians to grow their own oyster mushrooms with simplicity and from used coffee grounds. Gourmet mushrooms are natures waste cleanser and Life Cykel know that there's room for a larger health and environmental impact. Commercial mushroom farming uses plastic grow bags that end up in landfill. Whilst Life Cykel grow from local waste products we have grow bag solutions to solve. Fungi consume and break down common biodegradable plastic so we are seeking a motivated student to conduct trials on different growing materials in order to transform our practices into 100% environmental harmony and away from plastic. Optimal incubation time periods, material trials and problem solving will be the key elements that we work together to optimise.
